October Prayer Session!

Hi beautiful daughters of God,

First off, I’ll like to sincerely apologise.  I realise it has been a long while since we posted anything on here.  We're juggling many balls at the same time and sometimes, it can seem easier to just let a ball or two fall.  We are having a couple of administrative problems but by the grace of God, all will be well! J

Our theme for this month is “Prayer!  There are so many references made to prayer in the New Testament but what I want us to meditate on for now is Luke 11:1 – 4.  Jesus had just finished praying in a certain place and when He was done, one of His disciples asked Him to teach them to pray and He taught them the “Our Father”.

Prayer is simply the raising up of our minds and hearts to God by thinking of Him, by adoring, praising and thanking Him and by begging Him of all blessings for our soul and our body.

Jesus gave many “rules” for prayers…  Don’t pray at the top of your voices to garner attention to yourself…  Go into your room and your Father who is in secret will hear and reward you…  But the principal line of thought that persists throughout the New Testament is that of perseverance in prayer!

Remember the struggle of Jacob with an unknown adversary, before crossing the ford that would bring him to a meeting with his brother Esau [see Genesis 32: 22 – 32].  This Scripture text speaks to us about a long night of seeking God, of the struggle to learn His Name and see His face; it is the night of prayer that, with tenacity and perseverance, asks God for a blessing and a new name, a new reality that is the fruit of conversion and forgiveness.

This month, we’re not going to be taking any prayer requests or thanksgivings…  We’ll send out the reflection and some prayer points all around the theme of prayer.  We are meant to be a group of praying women and as such we will be crying out to God, as the first disciples did, asking Him to teach us to pray!

To all those praying with us for the first time, welcome! May God shine His face favourably upon you!

To all those who haven't prayed with us in a while... Welcome! We've missed you, we love you and we'll be glad to have you back!

And to all those who pray regularly....  Welcome!  We love you, God loves you even more and appreciates your dedication.  He sees and HE blesses!

We look forward to praying with you all tomorrow!

Stay blessed!
