New Beginnings... Joseph

Image
source Sometimes, the Lord takes certain people on an extraordinary journey  because He’s got an extraordinary purpose in mind for that person….  Let’s take a quick look at Joseph (Genesis 37 – 50)! Joseph was a 17 year old boy who was the apple of his father’s eye.  His dad made him a long robe with sleeves. Due to this, his brothers  hated him and couldn’t live at peace with him. To make matters worse,  he was a dreamer and he shared these dreams with his brothers which  made them hate him even more and they were jealous of him. Ladies, be careful who you share your dreams and your visions with.  Not everyone that is around you will be able to understand God’s  purpose for your life.  Please read Joseph’s story in full, I just want to point out, in  brief, his journey. His brothers sought to kill him but instead sold him into slavery. He  was then sold again in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. The  fav...

New Beginnings... The Prodigal Son

Image
source A story which we've read time and time again, is that of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11 - 24).   Tonight, I invite you to read that story again, but instead let's focus just a little on the Father of the Prodigal Son... But he honoured it.   To make matters worse, a few days later, Junior packs up his belongings and all his cattle, money, servants etc and heads off to a distant land.   Again, let's reflect: First, Junior effectively declared his father dead and then he leaves him without a backward glance.  Papa must have been heart broken at this. ...

New Beginnings... Paul and Silas

source Release your imagination a little and follow me on a journey…. You’re all burning for Jesus! You’re witnessing for Him, snatching souls away from the devil for Him… You just want to do things for God. Then, the people are tired of you… You’re beginning to challenge their practices and rub them up the wrong way. In annoyance, they drag you before the leaders of the town and accuse you of many things. A whole mob forms, attacking you, tearing off your clothes and beating you with rods, and after you have received very many blows, you’re thrown into prison under the strict and watchful eye of the jailer. What will your reaction be? Naturally, I’ll be very upset. I may even scream at God, “I was doing YOUR work! Is this how you repay me???” In anger, I may ignore God, or bemoan my fate, or even worse, attend a pity part with the devil… All of which will add to my frustration and general upset. The first part of this narrative i...
