New Beginnings... Paul and Silas

Release your imagination a little and follow me on a journey…. You’re all burning for Jesus! You’re witnessing for Him, snatching souls away from the devil for Him… You just want to do things for God. Then, the people are tired of you… You’re beginning to challenge their practices and rub them up the wrong way. In annoyance, they drag you before the leaders of the town and accuse you of many things. A whole mob forms, attacking you, tearing off your clothes and beating you with rods, and after you have received very many blows, you’re thrown into prison under the strict and watchful eye of the jailer.

What will your reaction be? Naturally, I’ll be very upset. I may even scream at God, “I was doing YOUR work! Is this how you repay me???” In anger, I may ignore God, or bemoan my fate, or even worse, attend a pity part with the devil… All of which will add to my frustration and general upset.
The first part of this narrative is a true life story and it happened to Paul and Silas! But their story ended in quite a different way. [Please read Acts 16: 25 –26]. There they were locked up in jail, with their feet fastened in the stocks.

Then the Bible records, at about midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the prisoners were listening to them. Let’s pause for a minute… Look at the time… It was midnight. While most people – including the jailers – were sleeping, Paul and Silas were praising GOD and setting the stage for their New Beginning!

Food For Thought: When last did you forsake sleep in order to pray and sing hymns to God?

What happened? There was a great earthquake… The foundations of the prison were shaken and immediately all the doors were opened and every one’s fetters were unfastened.

I want to prophesy into someone’s life this night, that there shall be an earthquake in your life –the foundations of the prison holding your blessings shall be shaken and immediately all the doors previously standing between you and your destiny shall be opened unto you and all your fetters, everything that has been holding you back from achieving greatness, shall be unfastened in Jesus Name, Amen!

We still have time slots left for this month! Let’s stay awake and secure our New Beginnings once and for all! The Lord is promising a New Beginning [Isaiah 43:18 – 19], it’s left for us to set things in place to receive it!

God bless you!
